Application Period for Section 8 Housing Reopened for a Limited Time

For the first time in 15 years, the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) reopened the waitlist for its Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 12:00 AM. The application will be open until Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 11:59 PM.

What is Section 8?

Section 8 is a federally funded program that pays part of the rent for low and moderate income families. Eligibility is based on family’s gross annual income and family size.
